LOUGHNEY, THELMA C. (nee DAMICO) 95 of Atlantic City (Chelsea Heights), passed away peacefully on September 2, 2024. Thelma was born on September 26, 1928.She graduated from Holy Spirit High School. She met and married Charles Loughney on September 28, 1948 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church where she was a faithful parishioner. She had worked for New Jersey Bell for over 26 years and loved running her own hotdog stand alongside her husband Charles (Charlie Boy) who was the love of her life.
Thelma also enjoyed going to the Atlantic City race Track and betting on the horses while her fun loving husband was working there. Besides spending time with her family, one of her other favorite things to do was sitting on the Albany Avenue bench on the boardwalk!!
Our mom was a loving and dedicated mother whose love, affection and care knew no bounds. Her heart was so generous with all of her act of kindness and good-natured way, that had a huge impact on others.
Thelma was a bathing beauty who loved the beach, the Pageant, the Steel Pier, Music - and she loved to dance.
Beloved wife of the late Charles Loughney, dear mother of John Loughney (Nicole), Michael Loughney (Helen), Christine Young (Richard) and Thelma Johnson (Joe).
Thelma was predeceased by her parents Steve and Helen Damico, her sons Chuckie and Steve Loughney and daughter Thelma Johnson (Joe), her cherished sisters Christine (Sr. Mary Paulette) Damico, Helen (Sr. Mary Claude) Damico, also her grandsons Stevie Loughney and Michael Young.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews with heartfelt thank you to her nephew Christopher Morris for the love and care of our Mother. Her legacy extends to all of her grandchildren; Chrissie an Kevin, Matthew and Ryan, Tara, Theresa, John, Nicholas and Alexandra, as well as many great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated for Thelma Loughney 11:00am Monday, September 9, 2024 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church 2651 Atlantic Avenue, Atlantic City, NJ. Relatives and friends may begin to gather for her viewing from 10:00am at the Church. The Rite of Committal will be offered at Holy Cross Cemetery, 5061 Harding Highway (Route 40) in Mays Landing, following Mass.
