PATRICIA V. DAHME (ANDERSON) 78 of Atlantic City, died peacefully on August 23, 2024 with her family by her side.
Born in Atlantic City on September 26, 1945, she was the daughter of Veronica and John Anderson. Even though Pat was born locally, when she was young the family moved to Pensacola, Florida and San Diego, California, since John was a Navy pilot and flight instructor. Once her father retired from the Navy, Pat returned with her parents and younger siblings, Lois and John Jr., to Atlantic City.
Pat attended Our Lady Star of the Sea School and graduated from Holy Spirit High School in 1963. After high school she moved to New York City, married, and ultimately moved back to Atlantic City to raise her two children, Jennifer and Sean.
Pat was exceedingly intelligent and curious. She was an avid reader and especially enjoyed mystery and detective fiction where she relished the puzzles and problems presented. She also loved films and was often caught crying and declaring the current film to be the saddest thing she had ever seen.
Professionally, Pat worked in night audit at several local hotels. She began her career at the Shelburne Hotel and then opened the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino. She then worked at the Holiday Inn and Diplomat Hotels for Allan Greenman and continued at the property when it became the Chelsea Hotel.
Pat was also a stellar cook and a foodie before the term was coined. She hosted lovely dinner parties, and for two years in the early 1980s, she opened her own restaurant, The Ground Floor, in Ocean City.
During her retirement, Pat treasured her weekly Girls' Nights when she and her sister Lois babysat (and spoiled) her grand-daughter Anderson, the love of Pat's life. Pat also loved her pets. Over her lifetime, she loved and cared for many cats and dogs: Michael McDuff Montgomery, Duchess, Trenton, Elizabeth, Chemo, Mr. Buddy, Nolan, Coco, and her current cat, Pepper, who misses her terribly.
Pat was predeceased by her mother Veronica Anderson and her father John Anderson Sr. She is survived by her sister Lois Anderson, brother John Anderson Jr., sister-in-law Linda Rago, nephew John C. Anderson, and niece Catherine Anderson. She is also survived by her son Sean Dahme, who was a tireless and amazing caregiver during the last years of Pat's life, daughter Jennifer Dahme, son-in-law Tim Kriebel, and her beloved grand-daughter Anderson Kriebel.
