Obituary of Mary Olive Gallagher

MARY OLIVE GALLAGHER, (Ollie), 92, of Ventnor (formerly Huntington Valley, Pa) passed away peacefully on Friday March 22, 2024, with her loving family by her side. Ollie was born in Atlantic City. She attended Star of the Sea Grammar School and Holy Spirit High School. After marrying John Gallagher Sr., they moved to Huntington Valley where they raised their children before returning to the shore (Ventnor) in 1980. They were happy to be near family and rekindle old friendships. Ollie worked at the Atlantic City Chamber of Commerce for many years before retiring. Ollie was loved and admired by many, she was known for her giving heart and helping anyone in need. She loved being at the shore surrounded by family and friends and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ollie is predeceased by her beloved husband, John J. Sr.; sons John J. Jr. & Andrew Michael; daughter Kathy; parents Vaughn & Mary Cramer; siblings Sister Mary Laboure' (Ethel), June Ross, Michael Cramer; and son-in law Ken Steele. Ollie is survived by her children Maryjo Steele, Nancy Cella (Joe), Tish Platz (Dennis), grandson Jaimin Gallagher and her sister-in-law Kathy Gallagher. She is also survived by her grandchildren Scott Steele (Sarah), Casie Calahan, Chelsea Root (Tony), Kristyn Cella -Nickels (Joe) and great grandchildren Landon & Grady Steele, Joseph & Andrew Nickels, Frankie Mallon, Mackenzie & Jack Root and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Olive Gallagher will be Celebrated 10:00am Tuesday March 26 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church 2651 Atlantic Avenue in Atlantic City. Relatives and friends may call at the church from 9:00am. The Rite of Committal will be offered at Holy Cross Cemetery 5061 Harding Highway, (Route 40) in Mays Landing, following Mass.
