Obituary of Barbara J. Suckiel

BARBARA J.SUCKIEL (nee Dillon) 60, of Mays Landing passed away December 2nd at Mainland hospital after a brief illness surrounded by her loving family. Barb was born on January 7, 1963 to Babs and Charlie Dillon in Atlantic City, where she made many dear, lifelong friends and who still to this day call her Barbie. She attended St. Michael's kindergarten, OLSS grammar school, Holy Spirit High School and Glassboro State College. From a very young age Barb excelled at any sport she played especially softball from the 'red team' at Chelsea Little League to HSHS Varsity line up. For many years, Barb worked for Atlantic City Electric, where she made many life long friendships. After college, Barb briefly entered the casino industry where she met her future husband Michael Suckiel. She couldn't have picked a better life partner. They had two beautiful daughters Kelly and Shannon and Barb got to realize her ultimate goal: that of being a mom. And Barb was a great mom. Not only to her girls but to any child she came in contact with. She was the homemade Christmas wrapping paper, gingerbread house making, chocolate pretzel dipping mom. She was the every child is welcome and I always have a snack mom. The up for anything mom. The let's take a road trip and even better if it involves a beach kind of mom. But also the most down to earth mom you'd ever want to meet - the everyone is going through something mom. Barb was so much fun and so loving and giving. She had a big, generous heart and will be missed by many. Barb is survived by her husband Mike, daughters Kelly and Shannon, sons-in-law Corey and Chad, her big brother Chuck, Sisters-in-law Anne, Aud, Lynn and Heather; brothers-in-law Karl, Steve and Mike. Her beloved nephew Conor, as well as many other nieces and nephews. And her precious granddaughter Rylee. She is pre-deceased by her mother Barbara (Babs) Dillon and her father Charles (Charlie) Dillon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated for Barbara Suckiel 12 Noon Friday, December 8, 2023, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church 2651 Atlantic Avenue Atlantic City, NJ 08401. Relatives and friends may begin to gather at the Church from 10:00am.
