Obituary of Jeffrey M. Smith

JEFFREY M. SMITH, 61 of Mays Landing passed away at AtlantiCare Medical Center in Galloway. on Thursday, November 9th, 2023 from heart Complications. He passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Jeff was born December 19, 1961 in Philadelphia and raised in Haddonfield, NJ by his parents Lloyd and Margaret Smith (Pickell). He attended elementary school in Haddonfield, as well as Haddonfield High School. He would go on to graduate from Johnson and Wales Culinary School. He began his culinary career in Atlantic City's most popular casinos including Trump World's Fair, Trump Taj Mahal, and Atlantis Casino Hotel. He ended his time in the Casinos with a 25 year run a chef at the Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino. Soon following a career change, he last worked security for Alex and Son equipment auctions and at the Atlantic City Race Track. He is preceded by his parents Lloyd and Margaret Smith (Pickell), and his brother Richard (Mary Ellen). He is survived by his former wife Dona Smith (Bannon); son Jeffrey (Kaitlynn); daughter Samantha; brother Bradford (Shawn) and sister Leslie (Ronald). Jeff had 9 nieces and nephews and 8 great nieces and nephews that he loved dearly and always brought a smile to his face. Jeff was a long time member of the Mays Landing Athletic Association (MLAA), and loved to volunteer is time coaching football for the Mays Landing Lakers. You could find him cheering on his children a well a the rest of his Lakers family for 21 years at Underhill Park. He loved post game get-togethers whether it was at someone's house or the Mill Street Pub. Memorial Services for Jeffrey M. Smith will be held 2:00PM Saturday, December 2, 2023 at the Gormley Funeral Home LLC 2706 Atlantic Avenue, Atlantic City, NJ 08401. Relatives and friends may begin to gather at the Funeral Home from 12:00 noon.
