Obituary of Margaret T. Phillips

PHILLIPS, MARGARET T. (FRIEL) passed away on September 17, 2023 at the age of 92. Marge, Margie, Margaret, Peggy, Sis, Sissy, Sister Mary Sis, Mom, grew up in Bungalow Park in Atlantic City with her Sister and 6 Brothers. She graduated from Holy Spirit High School and went on to Georgian Court College majoring in Education. Marge was in the Convent with the Sisters of Mercy in Plainfield, NJ for two years. She took a leave from the Convent to take care of her Mother who had cancer. Marge took a job at Guarantee Bank where she met Frank Phillips, they married and raised four children on Blenheim Avenue in Absecon. It was a very happy life. Marge taught at Assumption School in Pomona, St Nicholas, Holy Spirit, and Star of the Sea Grammar Schools in Atlantic City. After teaching she attended ACCC and became a Certified Nurse Aide and worked at Linwood Convalescent Center and Ocean Point Nursing Center. Marge is predeceased by her husband Frank, her daughter Francine, her sister Mary Ann, and her brothers Dave, Marty, Joe, Mike, Francis and Ace. She is survived by her daughter Marguerite (Jay) and sons Frank (Melissa) and Joe (Alane), 14 Grandchildren and 21 Great Grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated for Margaret Phillips 11:00am Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church 724 Maple Avenue, Linwood, NJ 08221. Relatives and friends may begin to gather at the church from 10:00am. The Rite of Committal will be offered at Holy Cross Cemetery 5061 Harding Highway (Route 40) in Mays Landing, NJ following Mass.
