Obituary of Gary Lawrence Harmon

Gary Lawrence Harmon 73 of Galloway, NJ, sadly passed away on September 9, 2023 at home. Gary was born in Somers Point on July 8th, 1950. He grew up in the Atlantic City area before moving to the West Coast of Florida. He would open his first appliance store in Tarpon Springs, FL. and after a few years, he would return to Atlantic City. There he would open another appliance store and marry his late wife, Elizabeth, whom he was with for over 30 years. Gary would go on to work for and with close friend, Richard, at Refrigerator City in Galloway, NJ., where the two would work side by side for the better part of two and a half decades. Gary's unique ability to connect with people, left a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to have known him. Gary's life revolved around his wife and soul-mate, Elizabeth, until her passing in April 2023. He would become her main caretaker in the last year of her life. Always a great dad, Gary was supportive and loved his biological and step-children. He stood behind them in whatever they wanted to do even if he didn't always understand it. His support for them never wavered and he was extremely proud of all their accomplishments, Gary found joy in spending quality moments with his grandson/best friend, Derek. They bonded over shared interests, such as car shows, where they had a fondness for muscle cars, and breakfast at Gilchrist. He also loved movies, particularly westerns, "Dracula" films and mob movies rounded out his favorites. He was also an avid fan of Elvis Presley. Gary Harmon's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of kindness, generosity, unwavering support for his family and friends will continue to live on in their hearts. He is survived by his daughter Lisa Harmon (Andrew Schifano), Mika Karnessis (Caressa Dunn), Demetri Karnessis (Jenna Kisby), Keith Harmon, Gary Harmon Jr., and Dawn Harmon Wentz; grandchildren Derek Longid, Isabella Schifano, Priscilla Rose Harmon, Kyle, Korey, Jessica and CJ. A Memorial Service for Gary Harmon will be held Saturday, September 16, 2023.
