Norma Jorquera Babich of Miami, FL died unexpectedly on June 26, 2022. The family is deeply saddened by her sudden death.
Norma was born on July 27, 1942 in Santiago, Chile and resided in Miami, FL. her entire adult life, with her children. Norma was the National Champion for Chile, in fencing, in the 1960's and won several National Championships thereafter.
Norma moved to the United States in 1970, with her children; Yasna Babich-Tibbitt and Luis G. Babich, and her former husband Louis G. Babich.
In Miami, FL., Norma began her career in the Hospitality Industry, working for the famous Dupont Plaza Hotel-Miami. While working at the Dupont Plaza Hotel, she became Director of Housekeeping in just 3 months after being hired. She also established an in-house department that would create and design the uniforms for all of the employees, and design the upholstery for the Hotel calling it "Tailor Made Designs and Needlework".
Norma loved to travel, write poetry, photography and music - but most of all she loved her two children very much, they were her entire life. Anyone who knew Norma was touched by her kindness, humor, and mild temperament. She was truly a peacemaker and was always a source of positivity.
Norma is preceded in death by her parents Sergio Segundo Jorquera and Elisa del Rosario Zuleta. She is survived by her two children; Yasna Babich-Tibbitt and Luis G. Babich; former husband Louis G. Babich; son-in-law George Tibbitt and sister Silvia Jorquera Zuleta and Herman Jorquera Zuleta.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated for Norma Jorquera Babich 11:00am Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church 2651 Atlantic Avenue, Atlantic City. Relatives and friends are invited to call on the family from 10:00am at the Church. The Rite of Committal will be offered at Holy Cross Cemetery, Route 40 in Mays Landing following Mass.
