Dear Joe Missy and Betsy and family,
I only learned today that you lost your dad last year (from former teacher Mr. Tracy /Marty). My deepest sympathy to you and your family. I don't think I had him in class, but I have such funny and fond memories of the camaraderie (happy, harmless shenanigans) between him and Mr. Evans, Gilligan, and Cassaboon (having a few spelling issues myself) on the 3rd floor of CMS! As a parent, I always admired and appreciated the middle grade teachers able to delicately balance a relationship with my teens. It made them feel like the teacher was a peer even though he/she was really giving them space to wrestle into adulthood by being fun and understanding and also mature and wise. When I think of those teachers in my kids’ lives and that period of time in my middle school years, your dad reminds me of that kind of educator. Think of him whenever you’re enjoying the seashore or a really good laugh. I will.
