Joe and I have been friends for well over 60 years. We shared many happy times together as kids growing up. Joe and his family owned a dock in Atlantic City where many of us spent many hours thru the years enjoying boating, fishing, skiing and just hanging out. Joe was a special guy who always there to help if you needed him, and he was generous to a fault. I will miss you 'Big Guy'... RIP..Paul

Joe was a member of the “Chelsea Mob” a group of guys who all grew up together in the same neighborhood in Atlantic City. This group comprised of Paul, Bob, Jim, Dennis, Carmen, Ed, Joe, and I have been meeting for Breakfast at Denny’s every Wednesday morning for the last seven (7) years.
I met Joseph when he was about six (6) years old and I was five (5) years old in the alley between Morris Ave. and Brighton Ave. I don’t know what we discussed but it was probably about Atlantic City property taxes(his favorite subject). He was known as Joseph and I as Joey. If my parents were mad at me they called me Joseph and if his parents were mad at him they called him Joey. Thus I have known Joe for 68 years.
He would always get to Denny’s first and I would pull up second and he would be in the running car on the phone conducting business. About a month ago he said to me what color wine does your wife drink and I said dark. He got out of the car opened up his back door and went into his filing system. Joe believed in the LIFO back seat inventory method (last in first out) and pulled out a box with two bottles of wine and said here give this one to your wife. That was Joe always willing to give you something or help you with something. He was a great guy and a great friend.
At our breakfast meetings we eventually wound up sitting in the same seats. Joe would be at the head of the table and I would be next to him Paul and Jim across. I would always give Joe the coupon and Joe who always seemed to like cash (our share) would pay the bill with his credit card. When the servers came with the bill we would say give it to our father big daddy. Since three other guys had brothers who came Joe and I were known as the Joe brothers. It was the same every week I gave Joe my unhealthy butter but evened it out with my healthy apples. Joe did it his way and enjoyed himself.
We are grateful that Joe attended our breakfast hours before his passing. Joe showed us the way in the neighborhood. I believe he has gone to show us the way in the future. In any event it will never be the same, and he is greatly missed by all of us. RIP Big Daddy.
Your breakfast brother

Joe was a longtime time and loyal friend for about 65 years, since we grew up together in the Atlantic City Chelsea section. We met for breakfast every Wednesday with the boys from the ‘hood. It was shortly after we met for the last time that we learned of his sudden death. He will be sorely missed by all of us.
